I began my career as a Massage Therapist
in 2004. I graduated from First Institute School
of Massage in May 2004 and received my license in
December that same year. My first job as a Massage
Therapist was at a Salon & Day Spa in Lake Zurich.
After a few months there, I was ready to move on,
and started working at Good Shepherd Hospital
Health & Fitness Center in Barrington. There I
worked for 5 & 1/2 years where I gained much
knowledge and experience working in that type of
environment. After leaving Good Shepherd in March
of 2009, I started my own Mobile In-Home
Massage business. Thus Sole2Soul Bodywork was
born. I have been trained in Swedish Massage, Deep
Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Sports Massage, Hot
Stone Therapy, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, and recently
completed my training in Medical Massage.
I believe that good health begins with taking
care of our bodies. Inside and out! The foundation
for good health is balance (Homeostasis) When the
body is in a state of balance it can combat the
stress and rigors of our busy hectic lives.
However, if the body is weakened, or out of
balance, our immune system is also weakened,
and our ability to combat stress or illness is
compromised.
With that said, I, as a Massage Practitioner
believe that Massage Therapy is a huge component
in overall health and well being. Allowing the
body to heal, is one of the single most important
things we can do to keep our bodies strong and
healthy. Listening to your body is paramount in
understanding and maintaining a good quality of
life. Most ailments or injuries are a culmination
of imbalances within our bodies and occur over a
prolonged period of time. Recognizing and
correcting these imbalances quickly are essential
in avoiding long term chronic pain or injuries.
I also have a background in Personal Training,
and Fitness. I have been practicing Health &
Fitness for over 20 years. I received my
certification in Training and Fitness from The
National Academy of Sports Medicine in 2004. My
personal daily dedication to living a healthy
lifestyle is attributed to exercise, good
nutrition, and understanding and listening to my
own body. My philosophy is that it is much more
difficult to fix a broken body, than it is to
create a healthy body.
I believe that Massage Therapy is a tool for
both repairing ones body as well as molding or
shaping ones body. The gains, and rewards from
including massage into your life is not only
important, but it feels wonderful too. I hope to
see you in the future at Sole2Soul Bodywork and
help you with your quest to good health.
